PAS must sever political ties with Bersatu and exit Perikatan Nasional if it wants to cooperate with Umno, said party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said PAS must also announce publicly that it has mufaraqah (leave a congregation) from Bersatu and PN.
Several media reports cited the Umno chief as saying these three conditions must be fulfilled in order for PAS and Umno to work together.
"As long a PAS does not fulfil these three demands, we will not be able to discuss any issues and matters which are a conflict between our two parties.
"These three conditions have been relayed during the meeting with PAS president (Abdul Hadi Awang)," he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
Hadi had gone to meet Zahid two weeks ago, after which Umno ordered its cyber troopers to observe a momentary ceasefire with PAS.
However, PAS has as recently as yesterday, maintained that it wants to work together with both Umno and Bersatu in the 15th general election.
Bersatu had already declared Umno-led BN was PN's main enemy in GE15, contradicting PAS’ stance that the enemy was Pakatan Harapan.
PAS is expected to meet sometime in the coming week to decide on its future with Umno and Bersatu - and its current stance would be impossible for either potential partner to accept. - Mkini
