Negri polls: Return and vote, says Perikatan Sikamat candidate

 

SEREMBAN: Perikatan Nasional’s Sikamat candidate Datuk Razali Abu Samah has urged voters to return home and vote in Saturday’s Negri Sembilan polls.

He said those willing to travel back for festivals and family occasions should also return to help decide the area’s future.

“If we are willing to come home for Hari Raya, family feasts or to visit our parents, I believe we are also willing to come home once more to decide the future of the place we call home.

“Come home not for me. Come home for Sikamat. Because when polling day passes, those who will remain here are our parents, our families and the community we love,” he said on Wednesday (July 29).

Razali is a former Melaka deputy police chief who retired from the force in 2023. He is contesting his first election.

Sikamat sees a three-cornered fight between Razali, Pakatan Harapan’s Nor Azman Mohamad and Bersatu’s Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

Razali said his campaign had gone well and that voters had grown more discerning.

“People today are more mature. They are no longer easily swayed by rhetoric alone,” he said.

He said many just wanted their area given attention and a representative who was easy to reach.

Razali asked to be judged on his record rather than his words.

“I do not ask people to judge me based on what I say today. Judge me on how well I am able to fulfil the trust after it is given,” he said.

He said his team had focused on social media from the start to reach younger voters.

“Young people do not want to be forced to trust someone. They want to see for themselves who the candidate is, how he works and what values he brings,” he said.
