Police are hunting for a man who robbed a convenience store worker at gunpoint in Taman Wahyu, Kuala Lumpur, early today.

Sentul police chief Basri Sagoni said the store manager lodged a report at 10.01am after being alerted by his Bangladeshi worker.

“The suspect took several food items from the shelves and placed them in a bag before approaching the payment counter.

“He then ordered the victim to open the point-of-sale cash drawer containing the day’s sales proceeds and threatened him with a pistol,” he said in a statement.

The incident gained public attention after Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng shared CCTV footage of the robbery on Threads, urging police to take action.

Basri also said the suspect wore a grey hoodie and trousers, a black MS helmet and carried a black sling bag during the robbery.

He added that the suspect escaped on a motorcycle with registration number WC357T, and the total losses were estimated at RM1,052.

The case is being investigated under Section 397 of the Penal Code for robbery or attempted robbery with a deadly weapon. - FMT
