Jempol MP slammed over alleged claims DAP behind image insulting Selangor ruler

Several DAP leaders have lodged a police report against Jempol MP Shamsulkahar Deli over remarks allegedly linking the party to an image deemed insulting to the Sultan of Selangor.

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer said the report was lodged today at the Seremban 2 police station after DAP leaders came across a video of Shamsulkahar’s speech during campaigning in Seremban Jaya, Negeri Sembilan.

Rayer was accompanied by senators Dr RA Lingeshwaran and S Thiagarajan, as well as Kota Kemuning assemblyman S Preakas.

In a statement, Rayer said Shamsulkahar, a Barisan Nasional MP, allegedly referred to the edited image of a pig in royal attire, which is believed to have targeted the Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, before asking why DAP had dared to do such a thing.

He said Shamsulkahar’s remarks gave the audience the false impression that DAP was responsible for producing the image.

Rayer accused the Umno man of making defamatory and malicious remarks against the party and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

The controversy stems from an edited image of a pig wearing royal attire that was uploaded by a Facebook account called “Huayan The Pureland Learning Centre”. The image was widely condemned and seen as an insult to the Selangor ruler.

Police previously confirmed they were investigating the matter and had identified the owner or administrator of the Facebook page. A device was also seized as part of the investigation.

Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil later said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) was working with Meta and the police to conduct a forensic analysis to determine the authenticity of the account and whether it was used by an “agent provocateur” to upload sensitive content.

The incident occurred amid a dispute over pig farming in Selangor.

In February, Sultan Sharafuddin said he did not consent to pig farming in any district in the state, citing concerns over pollution, river contamination and social issues.

The issue resurfaced after Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki called for Selangor to consider modern closed-system pig farming, drawing criticism from opposition assemblymen who said the proposal contradicted the ruler’s position.
