The current term for the federal government ends in December 2027, after which a general election must be called within 60 days.

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the next general election will not be called anytime soon, despite a more positive economic outlook.
Anwar said he is currently focussed on implementing reforms, among other priorities.
“The next general election is still a long way off.
“I am focussed on continuing to implement reforms and addressing problems faced by the rakyat.
“These will be the two central priorities for next year,” he said at a meeting with editors here.
