Families demand probe into Durian Tunggal police shooting of three suspects

FAMILIES of three suspects killed in a Nov 24, 2025, police shooting in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, submitted a memorandum to Bukit Aman on Jan 3, demanding a transparent investigation free from interference.

The families, represented by lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan outlined five demands from the family, including immediate suspension of all involved in the case and for arrests to be made.

They called for immediate suspension and transfer of involved officers (including the Melaka police chief), arrests, and charges, alleging double standards as no officers have been detained despite the case being classified as murder.

“Despite the fact that this case has been classified as a murder, not a single police officer has been remanded or arrested. And obviously no one has been charged.

“This is completely contrary to the police’s own standard procedure,” he said at a press conference before the handover.

They also claimed the actual crime scene was on the North-South Expressway and demanded action if evidence was tampered with.

On Nov 24, 2025, Melaka police shot dead three suspected criminals, aged 24 to 29, during a 4am confrontation at an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal.

According to Melaka police chief DCP Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, one suspect attacked a policeman with a machete, seriously injuring a corporal in his left arm.

The suspects, alleged members of the Durian Tunggal Gang, were reportedly en route to commit a robbery when detected. The gang is linked to 22 criminal cases across Melaka, Negri Sembilan, and Selangor, with total losses of RM1.35mil.

On Dec 6, 2025, police received a CD from a suspect’s family containing an alleged audio recording of a pre-incident phone call between the suspect and his wife. —  Focus Malaysia
