PKR Youth chief Kamil Abdul Munim today said every party has a vital role to play in safeguarding sensitivities and avoiding unnecessary polemics.
In a statement released ahead of an ongoing Umno Youth special convention, he said the event should serve as a “mature and meaningful” platform for youths to contribute constructive ideas and views for the country’s future.
“In the reality of Malaysia’s plural society, stability and harmony can only be preserved through wisdom, moderation, and a shared sense of responsibility.
“Every party has an important role to play in safeguarding sensitivities, avoiding unnecessary polemics, and ensuring that every view expressed is constructive and anchored in the interests of the people as a whole,” Kamil said.
In announcing the convention, which began this afternoon at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Umno Youth chief Akmal Saleh said it was to discuss and decide on the party’s direction, particularly its position in the unity government.
The convention is being held amid dissatisfaction within Umno over the recent guilty verdict against former party president Najib Abdul Razak in the 1MDB case.

Kamil, meanwhile, stressed that differences of opinion are natural and must be managed in a spirit of mutual respect, understanding, and consideration for one another.
“Despite our different backgrounds and races, we remain united by the same goal: to preserve harmony and build a brighter future for Malaysia,” said Kamil, a political secretary to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as finance minister.
In line with the government’s aspirations, he added that all parties should continue to adopt a prudent approach, strengthen cooperation, and maintain public confidence in the country’s administration.
“With a shared commitment, InsyaAllah, Malaysia’s political stability and progress can continue to be sustained.
“May all discussions held bring goodness and benefits to our beloved country,” he said. - Mkini
