A Facebook post by businessperson Albert Tei has been removed from the social media platform, allegedly due to violations of local law.
The post, uploaded on Feb 27, is understood to have featured a YouTube video in which Tei, who exposed the alleged involvement of Sabah politicians in a mining licence scandal, accused DAP leaders of being deceitful.
While the video remains accessible on YouTube, checks on Tei’s Facebook showed that the content is no longer available in Malaysia, with the Meta-owned site noting that the move is part of its compliance with a “legal request” to restrict such content.
The platform said it had reviewed the request against its policies while also conducting a “legal and human rights assessment” before deciding to restrict access to the content in the location where it “goes against local law”.
Malaysiakini has contacted the MCMC for its comments on the matter and is awaiting a response.

Tei’s YouTube account, known as “Albert Tei Reformati”, was seemingly launched as the businessperson’s response to MACC and the government’s handling of his whistleblowing on the Sabah politicians.
The channel first started posting videos on Jan 12, garnering around 4,000 subscribers as of press time.
A key feature of Tei’s videos is his move to don a copy of MACC orange lockup attire, which he previously said he had purchased online “to disappoint” Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki over the graft buster’s raid on his residence last November.
Tei was a central figure in the Sabah mining scandal, having released a series of video recordings that implicated at least 15 politicians and state leaders in alleged corruption.
However, the authorities have pressed charges on only two of them and Tei, despite the businessperson requesting protection as a whistleblower.
Last month, Tei pleaded not guilty to charges of giving bribes to Anwar’s former senior political aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin. The axed Malacca PKR chief was also charged with receiving bribes from the businessperson. - Mkini
