Overwhelming response to DG9 contract teacher recruitment, says Fadhlina

 

KUALA LUMPUR: The initiative to recruit new Education Service officers at Grade DG9 under a Contract of Service has received an overwhelming response, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said.

She said the Education Ministry had also shared a set of frequently asked questions on its official Facebook page to address queries commonly raised by applicants.

Below are the FAQs on the recruitment exercise:

1. What is a Contract of Service (CoS) appointed teacher?

Graduates without a degree in education who are appointed on a contract basis will undergo teacher training at the Teacher Education Institute.

2. What is the name of the programme to be undertaken?

Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education.

3. Where can applicants apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education?

Applications can be made at http://mypdpp.moe.gov.my.

The website will be accessible from March 2.

4. When does the online application open?

March 2 to March 20.

5. What are the eligibility requirements?

General requirements:

– Malaysian citizen.

– Physically healthy.

– Actively involved in co-curricular activities during university.

– Not older than 40 years as at the application closing date.

– Body mass index not exceeding 32.5.

Academic requirements:

– Holds a bachelor's degree from any recognised public or private university, or an overseas institution recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

– Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50.

– Credit in Malay at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or Sijil Vokasional Malaysia, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government.

6. How is the recruitment process conducted?

– Applications must be submitted via https://mypdpp.moe.gov.my

within the stipulated period.

– Applicants will be given a date to sit for the Teacher Qualification Test (UKCG) after completing the online application.

– The UKCG will be conducted online.

– Interview invitations will be announced on April 22.

– Successful candidates will be called for face-to-face interviews.

– Health screening results must be uploaded to the designated portal before May 30.

7. Where will the teacher training be conducted?

Training will be held at selected Teacher Education Institute campuses nationwide under the Education Ministry.

8. How long is the programme?

One year.

9. What is the mode of study?

– Face-to-face sessions will be conducted on weekends and during school holidays.

– Online classes will be conducted throughout the week.

10. What is the starting salary for DG9 CoS teachers?

RM2,360 per month.

11. Who is not eligible to apply?

– Education graduates, including those currently enrolled in postgraduate diploma in education programmes

– Interim contract teachers

– Existing contract teachers

– Individuals who have been dismissed or terminated from public service

– Undischarged bankrupts

12. Is this recruitment for primary school teachers?

Yes. The recruitment aims to meet the nationwide demand for primary school teachers.

13. What roles do the Education Ministry and the Education Service Commission play?

– Education Ministry: Manages interviews and administrative training through the Teacher Education Institute

– Education Service Commission: Oversees recruitment and appointment of new teachers

14. Do reserve teacher candidates and education graduates still have opportunities to become teachers?
