PDRM intensifies manhunt on Kapten Praba gang: “You can run but you can’t hide” is the message

THE Royal Malaysia Police say they are intensifying nationwide efforts under Ops Jack Sparrow to track down remaining Kapten Praba gang members, including those who fled abroad via unofficial routes.

Police are confident the syndicate will be fully dismantled, targeting both fugitives and the wider criminal support network.

“We are chasing them. Some of them, we believe, have left the country using unofficial routes. But there is one thing I want to say – you can run, but you cannot hide from the PDRM forever,” he said during the 2026 PDRM Community Policing Programme ‘Thaneer Panthal’ at the Sri Subramaniam Swamy Temple in Batu Caves today (Jan 31).

Last week, three Malaysian criminals linked to the Kapten Praba gang were detained at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai after being deported from the UK.

Flagged under Interpol Red Notices, the suspects – each with extensive criminal records – were stopped following a No Transit Landing notice and placed under maximum security.

The three notorious Malaysian fugitives, Navindren Raj Cumarason, Sridharan Subramanian, and Pratifkumar Selvaraj, were involved in a violent confrontation with security forces at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport upon their arrival to India from the UK.

Wanted for multiple murders and arson, the trio had earlier slipped through Malaysian borders and attempted to enter Manchester but were denied entry by British immigration.

Upon their return to Mumbai, they fought with Central Industrial Security Force personnel before being subdued.

“They weren’t just resisting arrest; they were fighting like they had nothing to lose,” said an airport source. Investigations continue into possible security lapses.

On Wednesday (Jan 28), the three men were flown back from Mumbai to Malaysia under tight police escort. They arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport early Wednesday after departing India on a commercial flight.

The suspects were taken directly to Sepang district police headquarters for processing and are expected to be produced at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court for further proceedings. —   Focus Malaysia
