THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has identified additional suspects linked to corruption in army procurement projects involving a senior officer. Further action will depend on ongoing investigations and evidence.
The main suspect is still receiving medical treatment, delaying a full statement; MACC will record it once doctors confirm his fitness, respecting his health and legal rights.
“The MACC respects the individual’s health aspects and rights in accordance with legal provisions and will take his statement as soon as he is confirmed well by medical officials.
“No time limit has been set for each investigation phase; it depends on the case complexity, the number of witnesses and the required analysis of documents and finances,” the commission said in a statement today.
Asset tracking and freezing are in progress, though details on values remain undisclosed. MACC emphasised a transparent, professional, interference-free investigation with stern action against any proven involvement.
Meanwhile, vice-admiral Datuk Sabri Zali, president of the National Defence Education Centre, has threatened legal action against those spreading defamatory allegations, particularly Bersatu’s Port Dickson chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard).
At a Jan 2, 2026 press conference, his lawyer, Firdaus Jumaludin called the claims – of corruption involvement, backed by unverified social media photos and documents – untrue and damaging.
Sabri has filed a police report, with more to follow, as allegations trace back to August 2024. The case is under investigation.
The spread has harmed Sabri’s reputation, institution, family, and friends. Chegubard raised the issue publicly on Dec 31. — Focus Malaysia
