PETALING JAYA:
The General Operations Force detained 34 Thai students, aged between seven and 16, for crossing Sungai Golok using an illegal point to attend school in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, today.

Southeast Brigade GOF commander Ahmad Radzi Hussain said all were detained at 6.30am, Harian Metro reported.

“We detained them under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and handed the case over to the immigration department for further action.

“We cannot exempt anyone, including students, when it comes to cross-border movement using illegal routes.

“Everyone will be detained if they do not use legal entry points,” he said.

Radzi said the authorities must take appropriate action to address the issue of Thai students attending school in Rantau Panjang. - FMT
