The National Service Training Department (JLKN) said in a statement that checks could be made through the ePLKN 3.0 system, while selected candidates must confirm their attendance by Sept 18.
JLKN director-general Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar said SMS notifications had been introduced as an official channel to inform selected trainees starting with Series 4/2026, which is scheduled to run from Oct 3 to Nov 16.
"This approach takes into account challenges faced previously, when some candidates were unaware of their selection status or overlooked information on reporting dates and requirements, resulting in some failing to attend as required.
"The SMS serves as a prompt for candidates to take action by directing them to check the ePLKN website for complete information on reporting instructions, selection status and the necessary steps," he said.
He said candidates would receive notifications directly on their mobile phones based on the numbers recorded in the system.
"This allows JLKN to deliver important information simultaneously to a large number of candidates, without relying entirely on existing publicity channels or requiring candidates to check the ePLKN website regularly," he said.
Marzuki said JLKN also planned to operate eight National Service Training Branch (CLKN) camps for the implementation of PLKN 3.0 Series 4/2026.
Of these, three camps are currently operating: Kem 504 Bukit Keteri in Perlis, Kem 505 Pekan in Pahang and Kem 515 Kuala Lumpur.
Five new camps are expected to open: Kem 503 Hutan Melintang in Perak, Kem 506 Sungai Durian in Kelantan, Kem 513 Bukit Pinang in Kedah, as well as two public training institute (ILA) facilities in Sungai Petani, Kedah and Tuaran, Sabah.
"The use of training facilities designated as public training institutes (ILA) reflects the Government's strategic approach through inter-agency cooperation to strengthen the implementation of PLKN 3.0, which is a national priority.
"This will also provide opportunities for more youths to participate in PLKN 3.0 in stages this year," he said.
Marzuki said JLKN was targeting the development of 13 CLKN camps in total to support the implementation of PLKN 3.0.
"However, some are still undergoing development and upgrading in stages.
"Therefore, the use of alternative camps can help increase training capacity and meet this year's trainee intake target," he said. - NST
