The discovery was shared on Threads by user Hafeezboh, who claimed to have spotted Malaysian-made packet cooking oil and sugar while visiting a market in Narathiwat.
"Did we officially export this, or was it smuggled?" he asked.
The post drew attention from other social media users, with several suggesting that the goods may have been taken out of Malaysia illegally.
One user, Ahnaz8712, claimed that certain parties were taking advantage of the border area to make a profit, while Aliphjolie said subsidised goods should not be sold overseas.
Meanwhile, Keiko_13r claimed that Malaysian-made packet cooking oil had been spotted not only in southern Thailand but as far as the Philippines.
However, based on the post, it could not be determined whether the cooking oil and sugar found in Narathiwat had been legally exported or taken out of Malaysia through smuggling activities. - NST
