Felda Settlers' Children Society (Anak) is teaming up with Hisbah Centre of Refom (Hisbah) for series of anti-corruption roadshows, starting with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's constituency of Pekan.
The Hisbah Centre of Refom (Hisbah) is a think tank led by Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor, who was once appointed senator by the Najib-administration.
Mohamad Ezam told reporters today Pekan was symbolic because of the vast number of Felda settlers in the constituency and that there has been many allegations that Felda funds were being abused.
"I have information that (Felda funds) are being used for the upcoming general election. We also have information that (Felda funds) were used in the last Sarawak elections," he said.
Anak and Hisbah signed an agreement today on their joint venture at the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) headquarters today, witnessed by Amanah's top leadership.
Anak president Mazlan Aliman said initiating the roadshow in Pekan was necessary because of Najib's involvement with Felda's development.
However, although date for the roadshow's maiden stop, May 21, had been decided, the place and time is still being scheduled because it is difficult to enter Felda areas.
"Recently in Segamat, we were supposed to enter Felda areas but there was threats after threats. We ended up holding our event at the entrance of the area," he said.
Further details on the May 21 event would be announced soon, he said.
Long considered a vote-bank for BN, Felda regions are now the focus of opposition efforts following disgruntlement over the land scheme and its investments, particularly through Felda Global Ventures Bhd.
They form a substantial support base for several key BN leaders and a slight vote swing may result in stunning upsets.- Mkini
