Responding to the former premier's latest blog post in defence of DAP, MyKMU.net said it was Mahathir, who for decades, spoke of the opposition party in a critical and negative manner.
“The one who declared (DAP leader) Lim Kit Siang as racist is Mahathir himself.
“Mahathir's tutelage to hate DAP and Kit Siang was among the reasons which influenced the people and Umno members
“For decades, Mahathir did not have anything nice to say about DAP or Kit Siang. Everyone is aware of this, unless if you are political greenhorn,” it added.
In his blog posting, the former premier had argued that the Malays and Umno had more reason to fear Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's pro-China administration compared to DAP.
He also noted that unlike MCA, which is comprised totally of ethnic Chinese members, DAP's membership is multiracial and their leaders spoke in the Malay language during meetings.
Mahathir's tune towards DAP had changed since the former premier, who is now chairperson of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), aligned himself with the opposition.
However, MyKMU speculated that Mahathir's latest blog posting could be related to the probe on the Bank Negara foreign exchange market (forex) scandal which happened during his tenure as prime minister.
The portal claimed that Mahathir's decision to heap praises on DAP was a desperate act because he feared that Kit Siang would speak the truth when quizzed by the task force investigating the forex issue.
Another possibility, it claimed, was Mahathir aimed to make his son a MP again by fielding him in a DAP safe seat in the next general election.
MyKMU also claimed that Mahathir is now speaking more about DAP as compared to Bersatu, and even conceded to misrepresenting DAP to the Malays before this.
“Is it only after 22 years that Mahathir has a realisation about DAP as expressed in his article, or has he changed his tune after being sidelined by Umno?
“If Najib had entertained Mahathir's personal requests, would have these (positive) remarks about DAP materialised?
“There is only one answer, either Mahathir has been ignorant all this time, or jahat (bad),” it added.
This morning, Kit Siang spent about 30 minutes with the task force headed by former chief secretary to the government, Sidek Hassan.
Speaking to the media later, the DAP leader described the forex scandal as an “elephant carcass” compared to 1MDB, which he termed as the current “elephant in the room”.- Mkini
