Police say the five had circulated the video on WhatsApp, bringing shame to the victim.
GEORGE TOWN: Five teenagers have been arrested for allegedly bullying and filming their half-naked friend at a factory area in Bayan Lepas.
Two of the five boys, aged between 15 and 17, were picked up at school, one at home, and two surrendered themselves after a police report was lodged by the victim, aged 15, two days ago.
They have been released on police bail pending further action.
Southwest district police chief Supt A A Anbalagan said the victim, a student, was working at a petrol station as an attendant and was having a conversation with the five others past midnight on Wednesday.
“Then suddenly the friends held the complainant, and another pulled his pants down,” Anbalagan said. “Another friend then deliberately recorded a video of the complainant, who was already half naked, using his mobile phone.”
Anbalagan said the complainant lodged a police report on Thursday morning upon discovering that the video had been circulated through WhatsApp messaging.
“This brought shame to the complainant. He was unhappy with the actions of his friends who had outraged his modesty in that manner,” Anbalagan said.
Investigations revealed that all five are known to the complainant and have been known to have harrassed him before.
Anbalagan said the investigation papers will be handed over to the prosecution for further action.
The case is being investigated under the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person, as well as Communications and Multimedia Act for disseminating offensive information. - FMT
