C4 acknowledges Langkawi seepage nothing to do with IWK


Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd extends its appreciation to the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) for rectification made to its report titled “Langkawi: Good Governance, The Pillar to a Successful Tourism Industry” released in March 2018.
C4 has released a new version of its earlier report on their website, at. The revised report acknowledges the efforts made by IWK to eliminate pollution to the sea.
The revised report also noted that the threat of untreated sewage discharge to the sea is due to properties which are not connected to IWK’s sewerage system.
IWK constantly ensures that all the public sewerage systems are maintained and operated in adherence to the stringent standards set by the Environment Department and the National Water Services Commission.
With a total number of 11 sewage treatment plants, seven network pumping stations and 60km of sewer lines on the island, IWK serves approximately 102,000 population equivalent for Langkawi.
IWK welcomes cooperation from any organisation to undertake studies with the aim to improve the sewerage industry in Langkawi or other states. - Mkini
