Dr M welcomes Khazanah board's quit offer, denies witch-hunt

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad denied has denied that the Pakatan Harapan government is on a witch-hunt.
"We do not regard everyone as guilty of everything. But this administration will not accept obvious wrongdoing," he said in a statement this afternoon.
At the same time, Mahathir welcomed the offers of resignation from Khazanah Nasional Berhad's managing director and board members.
Their resignations would "clear the deck" to allow the government to restructure it in line with policies of the new administration.
"This action of clearing the deck will allow restructuring as our policies are now different.
"While we believe in paying good salaries, we cannot all the time base it on commercial rates.
"We would rather focus on rewarding with good bonuses that are tied to performance as some companies may not perform as they should," he said.
Mahathir also said it is his prerogative to appoint the new board members for Khazanah, as well as any re-designation to other entities and retaining some to allow for continuity.
Yesterday, Khazanah confirmed that its board of directors has offered to quit en massefrom their posts.
Earlier this month, Mahathir said Khazanah had strayed from its objective of enriching bumiputeras by enriching itself instead.
This morning, it was reported that Khazanah is one of the government-linked companies which was proposed to be moved under the purview of the Prime Minister's Department. - Mkini
