Gov't committed to empowering Indians via education, says Kula

The government is committed with efforts to continue to empower the Indian community especially in the field of education, in line with the promises made by Pakatan Harapan in its 14th general election (GE14) manifesto.
Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran, said this included providing quality education facilities to the relevant groups, including with “complete and comfortable” schools.
He said there were 525 Tamil schools in the country and the government would proceed with the construction of six National Type Tamil Schools (SJKT), carried out since last year.
"I had raised this issue at a recent cabinet meeting and they (ministers ) agree that the construction of SJK schools, whether Tamil or Chinese will be completed,” he told reporters after a meeting with the Indian community at the Melaka International Trade Centre ( MITC) in Malacca last night.
Also present was the chairperson of the state Unity, Human Resource, Non-Governmental Organisations and Consumer Affairs Committee G Saminathan and the Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Maicci) deputy president R Rajasekharan.
In another development, Kulasegaran said he was confident that the Indian community in the Sungai Kandis state constituency would continue to support and vote for the PH candidate in the by-election this Aug 4.
"This confidence is based on more than 80 per cent of Indians showing support to PH in  GE14," said Kulasegaran, who is also DAP vice-chairperson.
