Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin said he would meet Perlis party leaders soon to discuss his recent appointment as the state Umno chief.
He said he has yet to meet them because he had been busy with the ongoing Sungai Kandis by-election.
“I haven’t started because of the by-election, but I have tried to meet the top leaders in Perlis. The process is ongoing.
“When I get the views and inputs, then I will decide on the next course of action,” he told reporters when met at a BN ceramah in Sungai Kandis today.
When asked, Khaled conceded that there has been disgruntlement within Perlis Umno ranks over his appointment.
“At every level (of Umno), the protest is different. Some accept it, and some don’t.
“Nevertheless, I think it doesn’t matter. Let me meet the top leaders first and when I have done that, a conclusion will be made,” he said.
To a question whether Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has explained his appointment, Khaled said he has yet to meet him.
“But this is nothing new in Umno. This depends on the president,” he said.
Khaled had previously said he would leave it to Zahid to explain the rationale for this appointment. -Mkini
