MACC expected to question Riza Aziz tomorrow

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's stepson Riza Aziz is expected to join the list of individuals questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with its probe on 1MDB.
An MACC source told Malaysiakini that Riza, who is CEO of Red Granite Pictures - the film production company linked to the 1MDB scandal – is expected to be questioned tomorrow at its headquarters in Putrajaya.
"That's what we heard from our officers but the time has not been set," said the source when contacted on an initial report by online portal The Malaysian Insight on Riza's expected presence at the MACC headquarters tomorrow.
However, another MACC source said that Riza was expected to arrive at 2 pm.
The US Department of Justice had claimed that US$64 million in allegedly misappropriated 1MDB funds had been wired to Red Granite and used to finance the production of several films, including Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film "The Wolf of Wall Street".
Red Granite has maintained that it did not knowingly use stolen funds to finance its films.
The US$64 million received by Red Granite Pictures was part of US$238 million in allegedly stolen 1MDB funds that the DOJ believes were transferred to accounts controlled byRiza.
He was accused of using the funds to purchase luxury properties from businessperson Jho Low.
The DOJ alleged that the prime minister's stepson had also claimed that US$94 million out of the 1MDB funds he received were "a gift".
Both Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor were also previously questioned by the MACC in connection with its ongoing investigations into 1MDB. - Mkini
