KUALA LUMPUR: Information and communications technology company Prestariang Bhd says it will continue with its RM3.5 billion National Immigration Control System (SKIN) project to modernise the infrastructure of national immigration and border control systems.
Group chief executive officer Abu Hasan Ismail said this was due to the definitive contract signed with the previous government in July last year.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons at the Ilham Tower today, he added that business would continue as usual.
“Prestariang will proceed with the SKIN project.
“We have signed a definitive contract with the usual obligations, and we will make sure that we deliver the contract on time.”
When asked if the new government would review the project, he said not that he knew of.
The previous government led by Barisan Nasional had said it was aiming for “zero defects” in the control system, which is expected to be rolled out by 2021.
Prestariang SKIN Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Prestariang, will spearhead the project which is meant to address current and future operational demands.
The SKIN modules cover passport and travel document management; visas, passes and entry permits; border control and security management; enforcement and depot management; and risk assessment.
Abu Hasan added that he had briefed the council on the project during the meeting which he said was “very good”. - FMT
