The Pakistan Tehreeke Insaf or PTI (Tareqat Insaf Pakistan) has won the 11th Pakistani General Elections. Their leader, former World Champion cricket player Imran Khan, 66 yrs old is now the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
At last count (still counting) the PTI has won 105 of the 228 Parliamentary seats - similar to our system. Here is a short intro video on Imran Khan.
Nothing much is known (widely or internationally) about the PTI. But much is known about Imran Khan.
Other than playing cricket this very wealthy man was once married to London socialite Jemima Goldsmith - a Jewish girl and daughter of wealthy London banker Sir James Goldsmith. They divorced after some years. Imran Khan is presently married to Bushra Maneka.
This is a major development for Pakistan. Imran Khan went to school in England and went to university at Oxford. He should be a progressive influence on Pakistan.
He does not dwell on it too long but Imran Khan is open to trade and good relations with India. It is also more likely that Pakistan will have better relations with the United States and the West.
The corrupted generals who have been managing Pakistan will most likely be very unhappy with Imran Khan. He needs a very secure security detail.
