SG KANDIS POLLS | PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan (above) will be campaigning against Pakatan Harapan's candidate in the coming Sungai Kandis by-election as he says the latter must not be allowed to win.
Even so, he refused to openly state if the Islamist party was asking supporters to vote for the opposition BN candidate, Umno's Lokman Noor Adam, but hinted that they should know the right choice to make.
"Our stand is we (PAS) wants Harapan to lose in Kandis. Is there any who do not agree?
"If you agree that (Harapan) must lose, then what more do PAS voters in Sungai Kandis want? We shouldn't have to teach ABC. The rakyat in front of me are all very intelligent," he said in his speech.
He was speaking during a rally organised endorsed by 300 Malay-Muslim NGOs calling for the rights of the race and religion be protected.
Nasruddin's speech was greeted by cried of "vote Umno" from the thousand-strong crowd at the rally held at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kuala Lumpur.
Aside Nasruddin, several PAS leaders were in attendance including its secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and ulama treasurer Khairudin Aman Razali.
Also at the event were Lokman, Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dasuki, former Federal Territories Umno chief Razlan Rafii and former minister Rais Yatim, who joined Bersatu last month.
The Sungai Kandis polls on Aug 4 would see a three-cornered fight between Harapan's Zawawi Mughni, Lokman and independent Murthi Krishnasamy.
The Selangor state seat fell vacant after the death of assemblyperson Mat Shuhaimi Shafie on July 2 from lymphoma.
