PM blames archaic laws, problematic officials

PARLIAMENT | Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has blamed the ‘problematic' government officers and archaic laws left by the previous administration, calling them the roadblocks to Pakatan Harapan fulfilling its 10 promises in 100 days.
"When we tried to implement (the manifesto) we found that we faced many hindrances," he said during the question-and-answer session at Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
"For instance, the laws that were formulated during the previous administration (pose a hindrance)," he said.
"The government officials who were cleared from various wrongdoings, but now cannot carry out their duty, they need to be transferred out and the officers replacing them lack adequate experience," he said.
"These were the obstacles, (making it hard) for us to carry out our promises," he said.

According to Mahathir, Harapan has started implementing two promises out of 10, while six were in the pipeline and two have yet to start.
He was replying to Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau) who asked which promises Harapan will be unable to fulfil within the 100 days.
