Police quiz DAP's Bagan Dalam rep on LTTE links

Following several reports lodged against him, a DAP assemblyperson in Penang was questioned by police yesterday for his purported links with the militant Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Bagan Dalam representative Satees Muniandy said police from the Northeast District police headquarters in George Town came by his office yesterday to query him.
"I told them, I do not only support LTTE but I support all the liberation struggles around the world," Satees told Malaysiakini today.
"If supporting Tamil Tigers is wrong, supporting the Muslim-based Hamas is also wrong, right?" the first-time assemblyperson asked.
Asked about the purpose of the police in questioning him, Satees replied: "They just recorded my statement.
"I said I support all the freedom movements in the world, immaterial whether they are LTTE, Hamas or Kurdistan Nationalist Movement."
Satees noted the police officer, who came in plain clothes, said he was just doing his job, as instructed by his superiors.
Satees was also told that there were several reports lodged against him by certain quarters but did not give details.
"I have told our people to stop entertaining these guys as it is a waste of energy and time. We have much work to do, to serve the people in our constituency," said the former Seberang Perai municipal councillor.
Satees and Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy (photo) have been embroiled in a controversy ever since photos of the duo "worshipping" the AK-47 went viral on social media.
Ramasamy is currently being investigated by Bukit Aman police, also on his links with the now defunct LTTE movement after some 53 reports were lodged against him.
The two DAP leaders denied promoting violence and said they were only paying homage to victims of genocide, in a memorial service organised by an NGO in Butterworth, Penang. in 2015.
Satees urged the police to also investigate the 30-odd reports lodged against netizens who viralised the photos on social media.
"They have created confusion and tried to incite religious tension and disharmony with their malicious lies that we promote violence," he said. -Mkini
