Siti Aishah defends her criticism, as PH discusses ‘special aide’ role

The Perak PKR information chief says her criticism was made in good faith.
PETALING JAYA: A PKR leader in Perak who said she had been pressured to reject her nomination for the state assembly speaker’s post, has defended her criticism of Pakatan Harapan, saying a recommendation by the menteri besar to appoint her as a special adviser is up to the coalition’s top leaders in the state to decide.
Perak PKR information chief, Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail said she was ready to accept any decision by Perak PH.
She was recommended by Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu to be his special adviser on issues concerning youth, not long after she revealed that she was pressured into withdrawing her candidacy for the state speaker’s post to give way to DAP’s Beruas assemblyman, Ngeh Koo Ham.
“There is no pressure on the menteri besar as he is given plenty of time to think over the matter,” the senator told FMT, adding that she was named for the job in her capacity as a PKR leader.
State executive councillor and former menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin had said that her appointment would be confirmed after July 20.
He said it was just a proposal and Perak PH did not need any additional posts in the state administration.
It is believed that Siti Aishah’s move to reprimand state PH leaders over the appointment of the Perak speaker would have a major bearing on the eventual decision.
Following her criticism, Nizar apologised to her.
But Siti Aishah said her criticism was made in good faith.
“However, if any PH leader regards it as an act of hostility, it is up to them,” she said.
She also denied that her lack of fluency in English would affect her chances for the special adviser’s position.
“That’s not the issue. The issue is my criticism against Amanah and DAP,” she said.
She said her criticism of PH was as a matter of principle.
“If this kind of a small matter can drag on with hostility and jealousy, it shows immature attitude among PH in Perak,” she added. -FMT
