Students in Sarawak need better broadband

The decision of the Education Ministry to immediately terminate the TM Unifi Internet service in more than 1,000 schools in the state of Sarawak is very frustrating for educators and students who are in desperate need of 100Mbps Unifi speeding services.
Recently, the new Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said his ministry wants to implement broadband systems at speeds twice as fast, at half the price, but instead they replaced the Unifi in these schools, with the Zoom Yes broadband service with a minimum speed of only 1Mbps up to 4Mbps which is certainly slow to accommodate the needs of many students.
We urge the Education Ministry and the Communications and Multimedia Ministry to further improve the quality of broadband system services at twice the speed, at half the price at all educational centers in the country.
Unifi and internet broadband services need to be improved with more than twice the speed of current at an affordable price. Most of the broadband services used in Malaysia are quite slow at relatively expensive prices.
The quality of broadband services in rural areas should also be improved, as there are still areas where broadband signal systems cannot receive maximum signals and also at relatively slow pace. In addition, basic amenities such as electricity as well as clean water supply for Sarawakians should be given priority too.
We hope this issue can be addressed by the Pakatan Harapan government and promptly addressed by the relevant party for convenience to educators and students who are in need of Unifi services and broadband systems that is faster and smoother at reasonable prices.
Collaboration with the relevant parties to address this problem is greatly appreciated.
