AT least 26 shots were fired outside an entertainment outlet in Taman Maluri, Cheras, last night, the second such incident after the shooting in Bukit Bintang mere weeks ago.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said officers, who were alerted to the incident about 9.30pm, found 26 5.56mm-calibre bullet casings at the scene.
“Officers also found 18 pieces of A4 paper, with images of two men, believed to be Chinese, at the scene. No injuries were reported,” he said in a statement today.
He said the pieces of paper were found 22m from where the shots are believed to have been fired.
He said police are investigating the incident, including examining footage from closed-circuit television cameras in the vicinity.
“Police are working to establish if this incident is linked to the earlier shooting at a nightclub in Kuala Lumpur.”
He said the case is being investigate under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 39 of the Arms Act.
Mazlan urged those with information on the incident to contact Assistant Superintendent Mutazlim Hamdan at 03-9205-0222 or 019-7842-754; Inspector Mohamad Syafiq Mohamad Rusdin at 03-9205-0222 or 018-2404-072; or, the Kuala Lumpur police operations centre at 03-2146-0584.
On June 24, 25 shots were fired outside a Bukit Bintang nightclub, believed to be due to a business dispute.
