THOUSANDS OF UMNO MEMBERS JUMP SHIP TO BERSATU EVEN AS NAJIB CALLS THEM ‘COWARDS UNWILLING TO DIE’ FOR THEIR PARTY & TO DEFEND HIM

ARAU (Bernama): Perlis Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has accepted nearly 4,000 former Umno members since Pakatan Harapan won the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.

Its chairman Ameir Hassan said the party had accepted the membership applications of nearly 1,000 former Umno members for the Arau and Padang Besar divisions respectively.

However, he said the membership application from former Arau Umno division deputy chief, Datuk Ismail Kassim, who is also Tambun Tulang assemblyman, was rejected as he was alleged to have criticised Pakatan during GE14.

“Anyone can join PPBM. If their application is rejected at the division or state level, they can apply directly to the central level,” he told reporters at a Perlis Pribumi thanksgiving event at his residence here Sunday (July 15).

At the event, he also handed over the Perlis Pribumi membership approval letter to former Arau MP Datuk Seri Syed Razlan Putra Jamalullail, which was witnessed by National Higher Education Fund Corporation chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Arau Pribumi division deputy chief Maton Din.

Meanwhile, Wan Saiful who is also the Education Minister’s special adviser, said a special meeting on the Pakatan manifesto to defer PTPTN loan repayments for all borrowers earning less than RM4,000 a month will be held in Putrajaya on Monday (July 16).
