KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s Anwar Ibrahim says he has proof to show that PAS paid Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown as part of an out-of-court settlement for a defamation suit between the British journalist and party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
This comes a day after PAS dismissed Anwar, who asked whether there was any payment involved in the settlement.
Anwar today said he would reveal more details at a campaign event in Semenyih tonight.
“I have enough information to show that PAS paid Clare. I have proof,” he told reporters at an event organised by media group Kumpulan Utusan.
He was responding to a statement by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, who said PAS need not pay any fee as it was not even a party to the suit.
Rewcastle-Brown, in an article published by Sarawak Report in August 2017, suggested among others that senior PAS leaders could have received RM90 million from Najib Razak.
