Adly: I'm still Malacca CM

Malacca Pakatan Harapan head Adly Zahari said he is still the chief minister of the state and that his government was functioning normally.

To prove his point, Adly (above) posted a photograph of him and his cabinet on his Facebook page.

"The Malacca government machinery is still functioning normally amidst certain developments at the federal government level," he said.

He said the office of the chief minister and the state cabinet was also functioning normally.

He stressed that all official meetings will proceed as planned.

He appealed to the public for understanding that the country is facing some political headwinds at the federal level.

Adly's clarification came hours after he shared his gratitude on his Facebook page for being given a chance to lead.

This was mostly taken as a sign that the Harapan government in Malacca had collapsed.

Yesterday, the Harapan federal government collapsed following the resignation of Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister along with the decision by Bersatu and 11 PKR MPs to pull out from the coalition.

The situation at the state level is still very fluid. No state has claimed that they have the numbers to form a new government.

In Malacca, Harapan had, as of Sunday, a two-seat majority. There are two Bersatu lawmakers. Should they defect, the Harapan government will fall. - Mkini
