Baru Bian feels vindicated after U-turn by those calling for Dr M's resignation

KUCHING: A day after quitting PKR, Baru Bian has reaffirmed his "100% support" for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.
The Selangau MP was among 11 federal lawmakers, including sacked PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who left the party on Monday (Feb 24).
"Those who have been observing us would know that our team’s stand has been very consistent during the past 21 months and shall remain so, that Dr Mahathir continues as prime minister until GE15.
"I am happy to note that those who had been calling for Dr Mahathir’s resignation have done a U-turn and are now in tune with our call. This vindication proves our stand has been correct all along," Baru said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 25).

He apologised to supporters for his silence amid the current political turmoil as he was in Bario, in Sarawak's remote highlands, for a prior arranged engagement in the past two days.
He also called on supporters to be patient and calm while a solution is worked out.
"I am still committed to ensuring that Sarawak will continue to realise its rights and no longer be denied the development and prosperity it deserves.
"Moving forward, I wish to reaffirm that our struggle remains intact. Our track record of fighting for the poor and marginalised is clear," Baru said.
He added that he and Sarawakian MPs, Ali Biju and Willie Mongin, would continue to work in the interest of Sarawak and Malaysia. - Star
