CM's office denies audit officers checked documents related to Guan Eng

The Penang Chief Minister's Office denied that audit officers were allegedly checking documents related to former chief minister Lim Guan Eng.
"So far, we don't have visitors (audit officers) as alleged," said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow's press secretary, Yap Lee Ying.
When asked, Chow reiterated Yap's comment.

Meanwhile, a source from the Finance Ministry said the allegation was probably "fake news."
"Why would the auditors just check on Lim (photo) and not other chief ministers or menteri besars?" the source added.
They were responding to a Facebook post by former DAP Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi, who said it was "the season again for the Auditor-General's Department report."
He claimed the Auditor-General's Department was compiling "forensics for the Series #1 Reports" for tabling in Parliament during the second sitting scheduled for July 20- August 27.
"Little birds chirped the AG's staff were at Komtar 28th floor the last few days, purportedly checking on 'projects initiated by the previous chief minister'.
"I, for one, earnestly look forward to the timeliness of project execution for three parallel roads/bypasses and the (in)famous undersea tunnel across the strait," he added.
Describing it as a "mammoth project", Ooi alleged that the undersea tunnel was awarded to a "faminely-capitalised" company.
The controversial RM6.3 billion project landed the director of the project concessionaire in MACC's office. Several key executives were detained temporarily.
Lim, who is now finance minister, was constantly attacked on several fronts, especially by NGOs who questioned the viability of the project and by BN leaders who queried the details of the initiative.
The tunnel was part of the Penang Transport Master plan which was scheduled to connect the island (Gurney Drive) to the mainland (Butterworth). - Mkini
