Film director makes political debut in Bersatu Lenggong division chief bid

With over a decade of experience behind the scenes, film director and producer Jurey Latiff has transitioned to make his political debut in the contest for the post of Lenggong Bersatu division chief.
The Malaysian Television Producers Association president will be going up against Lenggong Bersatu coordinator Khairul Azuan Mohamed Noor when division members cast their votes on Feb 16.
"Actually it has been more than a year since I joined Bersatu, since I returned to my hometown in Lenggong.
"I feel that a change must be done when I see that existing economic structures are very bad," he said.

"There was no one in the past who wanted to develop Lenggong as a tourist attraction.
"The people in Lenggong are struggling to make a living, although it has been gazetted as a Unesco World Heritage site," the 53-year-old told Malaysiakini.
Jurey said the realisation had motivated him to offer his services and transform Lenggong as a tourist attraction.
"I want to uplift the locals' standard of living and open up new opportunities for those who are jobless.
"I don't want to see the people in Lenggong only depending on government's help," he said, adding that this was a culture perpetuated by the previous administration.
Commenting further, the Creative Content Industry Guild president said his bid for the division chief's post would be guided by a vision - Lenggong in the Eyes of the World - which encapsulated his dream to promote the area not only within Malaysia but also on an international scale. - Mkini
