PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has assured that his party will strive to form government through the "front door".
Democracy, Hadi (above) said, had many options available just as there are many doors to enter Parliament.
"But it must follow the right process of law. God willing we will use the front door.
"We just know that there is someone who wants to become the prime minister through the back door," he said at a press conference in Kota Bharu, Kelantan last night.
The last remark is believed to be a veiled swipe at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim who is expected to succeed Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a transition of power sometime this year.
Previously, Hadi and PAS have expressed their support to see Mahathir serve out a full term as prime minister instead of handing over power to Anwar.
Hadi was asked to comment on allegations that Umno president Zahid Hamidi is pushing for the party to work with Mahathir, as PAS wanted to do so as well.
However, Hadi declined to speculate about any possible cooperation between PAS and Mahathir's Bersatu.
"You'll have to ask that party, not me," he said.
He said PAS was also not hasty and will look at political developments as it develops.- Mkini
