PUTRAJAYA: Health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed that a Hazmat team was brought in to attend to a Canadian teenager who collapsed at KLCC as a precaution against the coronavirus.
He said this was because the health authorities were “not taking any chances”.
Several photos on social media showed a Hazmat team and police at Tower 3 of the Petronas Towers, KLCC, attending to a 17-year-old Canadian teenager this morning.
She was later sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) where she and her family members were being monitored for symptoms of the coronavirus.
“The immediate thing in our mind is ncov (coronavirus), but it could be other illnesses like a heart-related condition,” said Dzulkefly during the health ministry’s daily coronavirus briefing here.
“Our measure (sending a hazmat team) was to make sure this was taken care of.
“We are not taking any chances. It’s better to be safe than sorry,” he added. - FMT
