Local band apologises for Najib, Rosmah dig during AJL performance

The vocalist for local rock group Drama Band has apologised for the band’s Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) performance which seemingly mocked Najib Abdul Razak and Rosmah Mansor.
According to lead singer Aepul Roza, last night’s performance was intended to “tell the story of life”.
“We are sorry for our mistake.
“To those who were offended, please forgive us. In the story of life, at times, there are colours we do not like,” he said in an Instagram posting earlier today.

During last night’s performance of their hit ‘Drama’ at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the band parodied several headline-grabbing events.
Among them was the shocking leaked audio recordings of the former prime minister and his wife by the MACC.
As they were playing on stage, a couple in clown makeup similar to the caricature created by artist Fahmi Reza appeared, with the woman in a baju kurung, headscarf and carrying handbags, and the man in a suit.
The woman then uttered the now infamous “Can I advise you something?” line by Rosmah in one of the leaked audio.
This garnered much criticism on Twitter as many took this to resemble Najib and Rosmah.
Meanwhile, Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Johan Ishak has claimed his team had not been informed of the concept prior to the event.
He said Drama Band’s “overboard gimmick” could have been intended to have an impact on the AJL43 finale night.
“During rehearsals, there was no such (political) concept,” Johan said, adding the decision to include such sensitive elements should have been informed earlier.
Johan said he will ensure adequate measures are taken if it seemed that the band had violated broadcast content code.
