PETALING JAYA: Sacked Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam (pic) alleges that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is currently going around collecting statutory declarations (SD) in support of the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"I believe he is still collecting the SDs although he denied any such cooperation with Dr Mahathir during the last UMNO supreme council meeting," Lokman said when contacted Thursday (Feb 13).
Lokman said the party had decided to sack him at the meeting after he questioned Zahid's eagerness to support Dr Mahathir.
It was reported that Lokman had slammed Zahid after an audio clip allegedly of the latter asking to cooperate with Dr Mahathir went viral.
Lokman was then referred to the party's disciplinary body, for hitting out at Zahid for backing PAS’ stand in supporting Dr Mahathir to remain as prime minister.
It was reported Umno issued a formal letter on Feb 11 to strip Lokman of his supreme council seat and sack him from the party completely.
Web portal Sarawak Report had earlier claimed that MPs from Umno, PAS, Bersatu, and PKR were being pressured to sign SDs backing Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister until the end of his tenure. -Star
