Lokman to get letter of expulsion Tuesday (Feb 11), says Umno

PETALING JAYA: Umno will issue a formal expulsion letter to former supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam on Tuesday (Feb 11), says secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the official letter is being prepared and will not only strip Lokman of his council seat but also sack him from the party completely.
When contacted, Lokman claimed that many of those in the Umno supreme souncil who supported his sacking were "afraid" of Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"Those who sacked me also include those who are in favour of a backdoor government - where Umno will work with any of the ruling Pakatan Harapan parties to form a government, but not through a general election," Lokman said in a text message.
He declined to say if he would appeal or take legal measures over his sacking from Umno.
"Will Ahmad Zahid accept my appeal?" he asked sarcastically.
On Feb 7, Lokman announced that the Umno supreme council had sacked him from the party for exposing an audio recording implicating Ahmad Zahid.
Lokman claimed that he was informed by fellow supreme council members that he was sacked.
"At 8pm on that day, the Umno supreme council WhatsApp group removed me, confirming that I was removed as a member.
"I have yet to receive any formal notice that I was sacked but my sources are reliable and they say a show of hands was made to sack me from the party (over the leaked recording)," said Lokman, who did not attend the meeting at party headquarters.
This is the second time Lokman is being sacked from Umno, the first time was in 1998 when he was expelled for openly supporting the then-sacked deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Lokman then joined PKR until 2004, when he fell out with some PKR leaders and was sacked from PKR.
In 2006, he returned to Umno and gradually rose to become Shah Alam Umno division chief and then an Umno Supreme Council member. - Star
