Malacca opposition leader Idris Haron today maintained that his party is not involved in alleged discussions to oust the state Pakatan Harapan government led by Chief Minister Adly Zahari.
Instead, Idris (above) said it is the ambition of a certain exco member within the Harapan government who is promoting himself as the future chief minister which has led to speculations that there could be a change in government.
"The Umno president has stated his stance (against) a backdoor government and we support the president's position.
"If there is any initiative (to create a new government) it comes from Harapan itself," Idris, who is Umno's Sungai Udang assemblyperson, told Malaysiakini.

"Exco members are busy promoting themselves as chief minister more than carrying out their own duties as an exco. They have failed in their portfolio and yet still have the heart to want to become chief minister," he added.
However, he did not name the exco member.
Earlier today, Malacca PKR communications director G Rajendran claimed some PKR leaders were in talks with Bersatu and Umno to form a new government.

Idris said the speculation does not bode well for governance in Malacca and urged Adly (above) to crack down on such talks.
"I urge the state government and chief minister to be more focused and to be firm in acting against stubborn exco members who are not able to function, including to sack them, and replace them with someone who is more capable and effective," he said.
Last October, state exco in charge of industry, trade and investment Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen landed in the limelight over a meeting he held with several Umno state assemblypersons.
This led to speculations of a potential coup but Rafiq claimed the discussion centred on developments for Malacca.
Following this, Malacca Bersatu chief Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said his party is 100 percent behind the chief minister, who is from Amanah. - Mkini
