MAP holds programme to educate Indian students on IR 4.0

Ipoh
IPOH: The Malaysian Advancement Party (MAP) has held its first-ever Digital Future Awareness for Youth programme.
Party president P. Waytha Moorthy said the programme was meant to improve the livelihood of the Indian community in the country.
He said Perak was the first in the country to hold the event, which was in line with the party's goal to help the Indian community.
"It is known to many that many Indian students from the B40 family are often left behind.
"Through this programme, we are creating awareness on Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) for them," he told reporters after attending the roadshow at YSRK Hall in First Garden here on Sunday (Feb 23).
"We have invited some 350 students from 10 different schools in this area for the programme," he added.
Waytha Moorthy, who is the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said the programme will allow students to think of other options when they graduate from schools.
"Most of the time, students choose professions such as doctors, lawyers and engineers as their ambitions.
"However, these jobs might may not exist anymore in the future so the programme will give the students more options in the future," he said.
He said although the programme is targeted to primary school pupils, a few secondary school students have shown some interest in the programme.
"Once we have completed our roadshow in Perak, we will be going to Selangor and other states as well.
"Right now, the programme is only for introduction of IR 4.0. Should we plan to extend it, we will seek for appropriate sponsorship," he said. - Star
