Rosmah Mansor has been admitted for treatment at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur, according to her lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kadir
"Yes correct," he told Malaysiakini in a text message this morning when asked about a report that the wife of former premier Najib Abdul Razak was admitted last night.
Responding to another question, he also confirmed that Rosmah would be warded for several days.
"Yes, subject to the doctor's advice," he said.
Akberdin also confirmed that Najib was by Rosmah's side in the hospital last night.
Rosmah had failed to turn up for the first day of her corruption trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday, and her lawyers submitted a copy of a medical report dated Feb 2.
Apart from cervical spondylosis and osteoarthritis in both knees, the report also stated that Rosmah suffered from chronic adrenal insufficiency.
Based on a Google search, her lawyer Jagjit Singh said the condition could be life-threatening but lead prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram rejected the medical report.
In a sarcastic swipe, Sri Ram said Rosmah was suffering from an “overdose of publicity and wealth.”
He also asked the court to revoke her bail and to send her prison.
High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, who ordered for the trial to resume tomorrow, had also suggested that Rosmah attends court in a wheelchair to accommodate her discomfort and pain from her illness.
Rosmah is facing three counts of corruption involving hundreds of millions of ringgit.
On Nov 15, 2018, Rosmah pleaded not guilty to two counts of soliciting RM187.5 million and receiving RM1.5 million for projects to provide solar energy to rural schools in Sarawak. - Mkini
