Stay out of government affairs, Rahman Dahlan told

Sabah PKR’s disciplinary bureau, after a meeting in Kota Kinabalu today, decided to investigate youth wing leader Raymond Ahuar for misconduct.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan chief Christina Liew today told Umno Supreme Council member Abdul Rahman Dahlan to stay out of the state government affairs.

Liew, who is Sabah deputy chief minister, said the termination of Raymond Ahuar as her political secretary had been a Cabinet decision.

“It is an internal matter and we will deal with it ourselves. So, never mind what Rahman Dahlan thinks the reason may be,” she said after chairing the Sabah PKR state leadership council meeting at the party headquarters here today.

Ahuar is head of Sabah PKR Youth. When asked why Sabah PKR did not defend a fellow party member, Liew responded “no comment”.

Yesterday, Rahman Dahlan had called for the state government to explain the sacking. He had asked whether it was due to a dialogue Ahuar had with the indigenous people at Kampung Tatalaan II in Nabawan on Feb 13, adding that the villagers there had complained about the logging activities on their communal land.

“The Murut communities in the area had complained about the failure of the logging firm to survey and sub-divide the plots of land for them. The failure of the said company had resulted in the indigenous communities there not being eligible to be given grants for their land,” he said on his Facebook page.

Ahuar, who has yet to receive his termination letter, said he was informed by Liew on Feb 14 that it was the chief minister, Mohd Shafie Apdal, who proposed his dismissal. This was subsequently supported by the majority of the Cabinet ministers.

He said the decision was made at the state Cabinet meeting on Feb 12, a day before Ahuar’s visit to the village in Nabawan.

Ahuar alleged his dismissal had been related to the logging activities in Kampung Tatalaan II and that the villagers there were not happy with it.

He was believed to have used a letter, drafted on Sabah PKR’s letterhead, in which he identified himself as political secretary to the Sabah deputy chief minister.

Sabah PKR disciplinary bureau chief Sazalye Donol, when met by FMT, said an investigation had been launched to determine whether Ahuar had breached the party’s ethics.

“A probe will be done by the party, even though what happened was not a party matter, but involved the state government,” he said. - FMT
