Umno top brass makes beeline for 'special' meeting

Umno's top leadership has cut short their retreat with PAS' leaders in Pahang and they have made a beeline to the party's headquarters for a "special" supreme council meeting.
Many of the party leaders told reporters that they were unaware of the agenda.
Umno secretary-general Anuar Musa (photo) said a meeting was called by party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"We showed up to see what the president has to say," he said.

Asked if party representatives will be present at the National Palace later, Anuar replied: "Today is Sunday... but is there (a reason for it)?"
This morning saw two separate meetings which have piqued political interest.
A meeting involving about a dozen MPs loyal to PKR deputy president Azmin Ali was held concurrently with a four-hour meeting by Bersatu's supreme council.
This was followed by speculation that Dr Mahathir Mohamad will head to the National Palace to form a new government.
However, there is little evidence to support this speculation.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Abang Openg is holding a separate meeting with Gabungan Parti Sarawak's top brass in Kuala Lumpur.
Their intentions are unclear.
The flurry of meetings in the capital today followed the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting on Friday.
The meeting decided that Mahathir will have the final say on when he would retire as prime minister. - Mkini
