CORONAVIRUS | The husband of the 83-year-old US woman who tested positive for Covid-19 is taking a risk to accompany his wife at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, according to Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.
Speaking at a daily press conference, the health minister said the 85-year-old husband wanted to be quarantined despite being free from the virus.
"(He) didn't need to be quarantined, but he wants to. So, we allowed (him to do so) at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
"He is accompanying his wife. He is at risk but he took his own decision and he is allowed to do that," Dzulkefly said.
The minister, however, said the US citizen who tested negative for Covid-19, is suffering from some breathing difficulties.
He also noted that the woman being treated for Covid-19 still has the flu and cough.
The US woman, who was tested positive on Feb 15, had travelled on a flight from Phom Penh to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport with her husband.
All 145 passengers on board the flight were screened upon arrival at KLIA, with two showing Covid-19 symptoms - the 83-year-old woman and her husband.
The couple was among the passengers on the cruise ship MS Westerdam that docked in Cambodia on Feb 13 after being denied permission by several countries due to concerns that its passengers may have been infected with Covid-19.
