5 cabinet members yet to declare assets, PM to crack whip

Malaysiakini

PARLIAMENT | Five cabinet members have yet to submit their asset declarations, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, the premier said he would take a serious look at the matter.
"For asset declarations, the time period is three months, not one month. The time given is sufficient.
"Ninety-seven percent (of the cabinet) have submitted (their asset declarations), just five others haven't.
"I don't have to say who the five are, but I will look at this seriously and ask that it be done immediately, same as for the deputy ministers and our MPs," he added.
Muhyiddin (Bersatu-Pagoh) was answering an additional question from Teo Nie Ching (Harapan-Kulai) on the status of asset declaration by the Perikatan Nasional cabinet.
The prime minister had pledged for his cabinet to declare their assets in March.
The previous Pakatan Harapan government had set a precedent for all its MPs to declare their assets.
Muhyiddin said it would take a bit of time for Perikatan Nasional MPs to do the same.
Earlier on Monday, de facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan said in a written reply that PN would continue the practice of making the asset declarations public on MACC's website.
He said that as of July 6, 43 MPs have yet to submit their asset declarations. - Mkini
