Charging of Peter Anthony postponed again

Malaysiakini

Tomorrow’s planned charging of Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Peter Anthony at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has been postponed again to July 28.
He was previously scheduled to be charged at the lower court on June 22. However, the lower court had to postpone it to tomorrow (July 10) due to him being warded for vertigo at a hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
When contacted by Malaysiakini this afternoon, deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin confirmed that tomorrow’s planned charging of the Warisan Melalap assemblyperson has been postponed to July 28.
“Correct,” Wan Shaharuddin said when asked on the postponement of the charging.
“He has a programme with the ‘KM’ (Bahasa Malaysia acronym for the Sabah Chief Minister, namely Shafie Apdal),” the DPP explained.
When contacted this afternoon, Peter’s defence counsel Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla also confirmed that tomorrow’s planned charging has been postponed to July 28.
Checks on the online cause list for Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at ecourtservices.kehakiman.gov.my showed that Peter’s matter is not listed for tomorrow and instead is listed on July 28.
On June 21, it was reported that Peter would face fresh criminal charges, this time in Kuala Lumpur.
The MACC had said it received permission from the Attorney-General's Chambers to prosecute Peter but did not disclose details of the alleged offence.
Earlier last month, Peter was also charged on two separate occasions at the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court.
On June 11, Peter was slapped with five charges of money laundering totalling RM8.75 million.
On June 18, he claimed trial to abetting criminal breach of trust amounting to RM15,545,400 involving a land deal between 2014 and 2015. - Mkini
