There were 96 active Covid-19 cases in the country as of noon today, up from 93 yesterday.
The number of active cases has been slowly climbing since last week. On July 10 there were 63 cases, which went up to 67 the next day.
There was a dip on July 16 when active cases dropped from 86 to 77.
The rise in active cases today came after the country recorded nine new Covid-19 infections, four of which were imported and five were local transmissions.
Meanwhile, five patients recovered and were discharged today.
Total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases stood at 8,764.
Of the local infections, four were Malaysians, all of which were from Sarawak. Two of the cases were from the Stutong cluster, and one case was from the Mambong cluster.
The non-Malaysian citizen infected was asymptomatic and detected when being screened for a journey to China.
Of the active cases, one case is under intensive care and the patient does not require a ventilator.
No new deaths were reported.
